We are recruiting volunteers for the 2019 STEAMFest on the Square! We have several open positions, as well as general volunteering opportunities.
STEAMFest will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 11am to 3pm at Courthouse Square.
Open Positions
Exhibit Coordinator
1-2 hours/week | 5 positions available
The expected exhibitor participation at STEAMFest 2019 is 70 exhibitors. To help facilitate communication and organization, 5 exhibit coordinators will be responsible for 14 exhibitors each.
Coordinator responsibilities include:
Vetting exhibitors prior to registration to confirm they agree that their exhibit will conform to the STEAMFest theme, “Create the Future”, and will include hands-on activities for children ages 5-13
Keep their exhibitors informed of exhibit details and promotional opportunities
Respond to their exhibitors questions
Support their exhibitors at STEAMFest
Attend and provide status reports at bi-monthly STEAMFest meetings
Solar sHACK Coordinator
1-2 hours/week
Solar sHACK is a dedicated area near Eco Alley at STEAMFest for competing teams to assemble a small solar car from supplied material (solar panel, wheels, cardboard, glue, soldering iron, wire, etc.) in a fixed time and compete in speed and distance races.
Coordinator responsibilities include:
Recruit and vet teams
Document competition rules with the help of committee members and other resources
Collect team information for promotional literature and website use
Keep teams informed of competition and promotional details and opportunities
Respond to team questions
Support Solar sHACK at STEAMFest
Recruit help if needed
Attend and provide status at bi-monthly STEAMFest meetings
Robot Alley Coordinator
1-2 hours/week
Robo Alley is a dedicated area for robotic clubs to demonstrate their robots. The coordinator will coordinate all Robo Alley activities.
Responsibilities include:
Recruit and vet exhibitors
Collect exhibitor information for promotional literature and website use
Keep exhibitors informed of exhibit and promotional details and opportunities
Respond to exhibitor questions
Support Robo Alley at STEAMFest
Attend and provide status at bi-monthly STEAMFest meetings
Website Coordinator
1-2 hours/week
Responsibilities include:
Maintain the STEAMFest website
Coordinate STEAMFest promotional placement on exhibitor, t-shirt sponsor, and donor websites
Coordinate exhibitor, t-shirt sponsor, and donor promotional placement on the website
Attend and provide status at bi-monthly STEAMFest meetings
Social Media Coordinator
1-2 hours/week
Research and recommend social media opportunities
Update, monitor, and respond (with guidance from the Committee) to queries and opportunities from Facebook, E-news, MeetUp, and other social media related activities as needed
Attend and provide status at bi-monthly STEAMFest meetings
STEAMFest committee meeetings take place from 12-1:30pm every 2nd and 4th Sunday at the downtown Redwood City library.
